We strive to ensure that beginning treatment at Pocono is a frustration-free process. If you have any questions about how to take the next step, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Admission Criteria
In order to receive treatment at Pocono Mountain Recovery Center, a person must meet the following criteria:
- Pocono Mountain Recovery Center treats adult men and women, aged 18 and above
- Patients must have a primary diagnosis of a substance use disorder
- Patients with various co-occurring mental health disorders may be accepted as long as their symptoms are stable, they are not experiencing psychosis, and they are not a threat to themselves or others
- Patients must be ambulatory and free of any medical conditions that will prevent them from fully engaging in all therapeutic activities
Step 1: Phone Call & Admission Approval
For individuals who meet the criteria listed above, admission to Pocono Mountain Recovery Center can start with one phone call. When a prospective patient or family member contacts us, he or she will speak with an intake coordinator who will gather pertinent information, determine the individuals’ suitability for our program, and verify his or her insurance benefits or other necessary payment-related details.
Following this conversation, the intake coordinator will contact the relevant member or members of our staff to confirm the patient for admission.
Step 2: Arrange Transportation
Once the individual has been approved for admission, we will discuss transportation arrangements. Depending upon the patient’s needs, transportation may be arranged by the staff at Pocono Mountain Recovery Center, the patient, a family member of the patient, or the referring professional.
Step 3: Arrive at Facility & Begin Treatment
When the patient arrives at our campus, he or she will be greeted by a friendly member of our staff and will be escorted to a meeting with our admissions coordinator. While with our admissions coordinator, the new patient will complete some basic necessary paperwork and will receive a welcome packet that describes the policies and procedures that will guide his or her time in treatment.
Following this meeting, the new patient will meet with one of our nurses for a thorough biopsychosocial evaluation. The information that is collected during this evaluation will form the basis of the patient’s personalized treatment plan. The better we are able to understand the patient’s symptoms and identify the issues that have contributed to or been exacerbated by his or her struggles, the better we will be able to provide focused care that will prepare him or her to achieve long-term recovery.
